Welcome to Aleutian Housing Authority Aleutian Housing Authority (AHA) was organized in 1977 to provide affordable housing and other related housing services to low-to-moderate-income families throughout the Aleutian Pribilof Islands region. With the passage of the federal Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act (otherwise known as "NAHASDA") in 1998, AHA became the "Tribally Designated Housing Entity," or "TDHE" for 12 federally recognized Tribes within our region. The region is comprised of approximately 100,000 square miles, extending westward from the southwest corner of the Alaska mainland over 1,300 miles and includes the Pribilof Islands to the North. Since it's inception in 1977, AHA has successfully developed 296 single-family homes, 30 senior living units and 28 affordable rental units in the region.
Currently AHA manages 294 units in 10 rural communities and employs approximately 50-55 staff at any given time (17-20 at our Anchorage headquarters and the remainder in the field as facilities managers and construction staff). In addition to being the primary provider of affordable housing services in the region, AHA works hard to create employment and job training opportunities, promote regional economic development, assists in the development of community infrastructure and act generally as a progressive and positive influence to advance regional interests and development. AHA has been a significant regional partner over it's 30 + years of existence and looks forward to continuing to meet the housing needs of the region in the coming years.
